The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real-life encounters. It was founded in 1996 as a response to the desires of shooters worldwide. The organization now boasts membership of more than 25,000, including members in 70 foreign countries.

IDPA offers an exciting forum for practical shooters in which truly practical equipment, techniques and courses of fire are mandated. Prior to IDPA, there was no place to compete with common service pistols. There were no shooting sports where your concealed carry holster could also be your match holster without handicap.

When you come to an IDPA match, you can not only use your duty/CCW equipment, you can be completely competitive with it! Other shooting sports have become equipment races; IDPA will not.

If you are interested in using truly practical pistols to solve challenging and exciting defensive shooting problems, then IDPA is the sport for you.

Our matches are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month (weather permitting).  Registration starts on the Saturday before the match at 12:00pm.  Registration is done via the Quinton IDPA page on Practiscore. CLICK HERE to be redirected to our Practiscore page.  We shoot 7 stages and the round count is approximately 125 rounds.  All the rules and requirement for IDPA are listed on their website www.IDPA.com  You can check us out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/QuintonIDPA

    Black Powder/Lever Action/High Power

    Rules and Procedures:

These matches are a fun type match.
They are  run with an eye towards practical shooting and not taken so serious as not to be fun.
    Don’t ruin someone else’s fun.
Everyone misses and – Some days you miss a lot.

Match Fees:  Adults $11.00  Juniors 17 and under Free

    Equipment -

In the Black Powder Class any caliber/action rifle may be used.
Lever/cowboy action rifles are a separate class.
Lead bullets/balls or soft point bullets in lever action class may be used.
No solid copper sabot style bullets may be used with inline style rifles - lead only. Slings may be used in all matches.
Optics may be used in any match and they are in a separate class from iron sights.
In the Black Powder / Lever Action match the targets are divided into pistol caliber-Round ball muskets and full rifle/Musket calibers. They shoot at different distances.  Ask for verification of targets vs caliber. Any rifle / musket or ammunition may be disallowed by the match director if in their opinion it will damage targets or present a safety issue. Lever Action rifles may use smokeless powder.
All firearms regardless of class or match must follow Federal and New Jersey State regulations including magazine capacity.
In the High power match – any caliber or style of rifle may be used. Provided the bullet speed of 3000 fps is not exceeded. Please check with the match director if you are not sure. The different style rifles are divided by class / optics. No steel core -penetrator ammunition is permitted i.e. Green tip 5.56.

    Match Procedures –

Match setup begins at 7:00 am. Please make an attempt to help. It is appreciated and the B/P match especially is a lot of setup. Please set the targets to the back of the rail. They fall easier if struck. Registration begins at 7:30 am pending the completion of setup. Signup for shooting positions for the matches are on a first come basis. Practice starts at 8:00 am and runs until 9:00 am. The targets will then be reset and painted. The shooters will then report to the center of the range for the match procedure and safety briefing. Please ask questions if you have them. Better to find out before any errors are made.
All targets in all matches shall be shot from the offhand position. All targets are scored from the very first shot. A turkey or a Ram will not hang around while you make sight corrections.
The first relay will be called to the line. The shooters will then be instructed to fire when ready. There is no set time limit with these -matches. Certain firearms require more time to complete their course of fire. Muzzleloaders and B/P cartridge guns need time to swab and clean the barrel. They will be given the time they need. However please be reasonable. When the firing dies down, the shooters will be asked if any more shoot time is required. If none is needed, the line will instructed to remove all rifles from the line. After verifying it is clear the command to go forward and reset targets will be given. Please repaint -as necessary. Each relay has two firing periods. Targets are shot in sets of five. Two sets X five targets = the ten targets per relay. Space and expense prevents us from putting out 10 targets per shooting position.

The Modern American Rimfire Series (MARS) consists of two possible disciplines.

Our matches are shot on the 4th Saturday of the month and points from our matches will count toward MARS season standings as long as there are 10 or more shooters.

    .22LR Precision:

You will shoot a series of targets in a specified order from different positions and using various props for support.  Targets will be shot at distance from 25 to 230 yards and targets will range in size from 1/4" to 10".  Shooters will engage between 8 and 10 stages that will consist of static targets, swinging targets, and even a laterally moving target.

Required equipment is a .bolt action or semi auto .22LR rifle with detachable magazines, several magazines, 200 rounds of ammunition and suggested to have various bi-pods and bags, barricade stops, tripods etc.

    The Match Fees:

    QSC Members — $20.00
    Non-Members — $30.00
Juniors (17 and under) — Free

    Tactical Bench Rest:

You will use a Bolt Action or Semi Auto 22LR rifle capable of holding a magazine.  You will need several magazines and 200 rounds of ammunition.  All shooting is from the bench.  The rifle can have a bi-pod mounted and you may use a rear bag for support.  Cross sticks may also be used.

You will be shooting targets at various ranges from 25 - 230 yards. The size of the target will vary from 1/4 inch to 10 inch plates. You will have 90 sec to shoot each stage.

Emphasis is placed on knowing how to operate your scope, managing your dope and utilizing hold over and kentucky windage.  Coaching is encouraged at this time.  It is our objective for everyone to become efficient in the usage of their rifle and the scope.  This is most enjoyable and satisfying way to be able to shoot at these varied distances.

Some of our new shooters have even had the pleasure of cutting a playing card on the edge at 40 yards.

Have Fun and we will see you at the range

    The Match Fees:

    QSC Members — $10.00
    Non-Members — $20.00
