Our Mission

The Quinton Sportsmen’s Club is dedicated to providing an exceptional shooting facility with a view toward promoting fellowship, honesty, self-discipline and the essentials of good sportsmanship. Additionally, the Quinton Sportsmen’s Club places great emphasis on firearms training, safety, ethical hunting and a life-long appreciation for the outdoors.

Our Objectives

The Quinton Sportsmen’s Club requires all members to complete a range safety course; provides youth training, hunter education and shooting opportunities for young shooters. The Club continues to provide a variety of shooting venues encompassing several disciplines and competitive forums.

Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition that involves shooting an array of five steel targets of varying sizes and distances while being timed.  There is a designed "stop plate," indicated by red paint which must be shot last.  The plate sizes are: 10 inches and 12 inches circles, and 18 inches by 24 inch rectangles.

The shooting starts with a buzzer.  The competitor shoots one round on each plate during the string.  The string is finished when the stop plate is hit.  For each stage the competitor shoots five strings, except for Outer Limits which is four strings.  The worst time (or string) is thrown out.  The total time for four or three remaining strings is your score.  The competitors are penalized three seconds for each plate that is missed.  Missing the stop plate results in a thirty second penalty.  There is no limit for the number of shots fired as long you do not hit the stop plate.

At Quinton Sportsmen’s Club we set up six stages.  Four of these stages are classifiers set by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.  Anyone who can safely handle a firearm may compete.  Allowed firearms are rimfire handguns and rifles, centerfire handguns, and pistol caliber carbines (PCC), typically .22 caliber up to .45 ACP.  No magnum ammunition is allowed.

Rimfire handguns, rifles, and PCCs, start at low ready position.  Your muzzle will be pointing at a cone.  All centerfire handguns will be drawn from a strong side holster with your hands in surrender position.  You will need an allowed firearm, at least five magazines or speed loaders, and at least 150 rounds.

Steel Challenge matches are scheduled on the first Saturday of each month.

    Match Fees:

    QSC Members -- $15.00

    Non-Members -- $20.00

Juniors (17 and under) --  Free

The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real-life encounters. It was founded in 1996 as a response to the desires of shooters worldwide. The organization now boasts membership of more than 25,000, including members in 70 foreign countries.

IDPA offers an exciting forum for practical shooters in which truly practical equipment, techniques and courses of fire are mandated. Prior to IDPA, there was no place to compete with common service pistols. There were no shooting sports where your concealed carry holster could also be your match holster without handicap.

When you come to an IDPA match, you can not only use your duty/CCW equipment, you can be completely competitive with it! Other shooting sports have become equipment races; IDPA will not.

If you are interested in using truly practical pistols to solve challenging and exciting defensive shooting problems, then IDPA is the sport for you.

Our matches are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month (weather permitting).  Registration starts on the Saturday before the match at 12:00pm.  Registration is done via the Quinton IDPA page on Practiscore. CLICK HERE to be redirected to our Practiscore page.  We shoot 7 stages and the round count is approximately 125 rounds.  All the rules and requirement for IDPA are listed on their website www.IDPA.com  You can check us out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/QuintonIDPA

The fastest growing and most exciting shooting sport out there is 3-Gun.  It is fast paced and requires a combination of safety, shooting speed and accuracy with different firearms.  The best part is that you probably don’t even need any more equipment that what is already in your safe to get started and anyone can play.

3-Gun consists of a set of courses in which you shoot three firearms - rifle, pistol, and shotgun - at different stages and engage various types of short and long range targets from assigned positions.  While shooting a 3-Gun match you will also get a chance to shoot while moving, shoot at moving targets, shoot at reactive targets sometimes from challenging shooting positions.  Spectators are welcome and you should also feel free to come out and watch a match before you try if you’d like.

If you are not familiar with 3-Gun send us an email at Quinton3gun@gmail.com and we will answer all your questions.

Generally, any 5.56/.223 rifle, a 20ga or larger shotgun and a 9mm or larger pistol would be suitable.

Scoring is based on raw time and hits plus penalties.  Basically, the shooter who hits the most targets in the least amount of time wins.

Our matches are held on the 4th Sunday of every month from March through November (weather permitting).  Registration starts on the Sunday before the match at 10:00am.  Registration is done via the Quinton 3-Gun page on practiscore.com CLICK HERE for that.  The matches are run as a series and there are awards for the top shooters in each division at the end of the year.
